Have been looking for a car

Well, I have been looking at ads because I am thinking about replacing the Volvo for something that is better in fuel economy. I was thinking about a suv, but I don't think I want to pay the gas bill even I don't drive much these days. I am also not a big fan of 4wd/awd any more. I rather have a 2wd.

I am still considering a Sporty hatchback, and have been looking at RSX. Not a bad car and reasonable in price and is fun to drive. I test drove one a few years ago and I truely enjoyed the drive.

But it seems too much work for me to think about a new car right now. Specially, I still love my Volvo. I am just going to stay put.

Spending on Arts

Every year, artists complain about government cutting their funding for arts. But most artists are selfish people as the government has a budget and the budget needs to be balanced. The officials need to find ways to use their money without seeing red. When planning the budget, essential projects will take priority and every thing else should take a back seat.

It's too bad that the government has to cut their budget, but what have these artists done to help the government's budget. It they can help the government to generate any budget, they have no right. They are just a bunch of spoiled free loaders.

Reignited?

I always have the passion for my chosen profession. I am a recruiter and I love the job. Although there are a few jobs that I can see doing, but I always love the process. Although, I haven't been in the mode that I am experiencing right now. I did it because I had to and I had a hard time focusing. With renewed passion and interest, I want to do it again.

I just registered a new name. My old company name just didn't seem right. I never felt like I owned it. I have working on a new name for a long time, and I was having trouble in generating a new name. I was sitting in my office and looking at my prized Tomac Taos, I got the name. I had Tomac to thank. My new Company name is Tao Recruiting. This is very fitting as I am Chinese. It will reflect my heritage and my focus.

There a few more things that I need to do before relaunching my company. I can't wait for the relaunch.

I am a seasoned recruiter

I am a seasoned recruiter and I have seen my share of interesting business practice in the work place. Many companies want to a make a quick buck with their employees and they really don't care much about them. In some cases, the company will just take advantage of them with empty promises in future earning. Nothing is guarantee in life and how can companies make empty promise. The bottom line is that all companies need to pay their employee fair wages for the work that they put in. If the company isn't sure about the employees can preform, don't hire them.

The work place is full of sales companies who don't like to pay their employees money unless they bring them cash. But is it really a fair practice? Sales people are on the phone to get clients, but they are getting compensate for this process. That isn't right. Some compensation will need to be made to them as they are advertising for the company.

What I want in life.

I don't ask for much in life. I just want to have:

- good health
- a job with a good firm
- a good family
- good friends
- a good life.

I don't need excess. I just want enough to make me happy.

XC Mountain Bike Ride

I went for a ride today and I had loads of fun.

When I set off for the ride, I didn't realised that I would be gone for 3.5 hours. I rode an area that I have never ridden before. It's good that I was a group and they showed me the trails. The trails were incredible. The ride was up and down and the climbing was awesome. I am a climber and I love to climb. I only wished that I had a bigger breakfast. I had to stop in the middle of the ride to chow down a snack bar.

I would classify the ride as an old school XC ride. IT is because I was able to handle it with a Hardtail frame. I may not be the first one to gt down the hill, But I had loads of fun. The stiff triangle boosted me up the hill.

I am looking forward to more rides at the area.

Polar Swim

Happy New Year.

I had a great new year's eve. I had a good dinner with family followed by a mini celebration at a friend's place. It was a rather quiet evening, but I loved it. Crowded celebration no longer interest me. Time spend with good friends made better memories.

I woke up this morning and I had no hang over. I was just tired. I cleaned a little bit before heading out for the polar swim. The polar swim was at a boat launch near my home and it is a small even put out by the city. When I got the site, I was glad that I wore my wet suit. The water was literally freezing cold. I was told that the city needed to break the ice in order to have the event started. The inlet was covered with a thin layer of ice. I have seen that before, but I never thought that I would be diving in the water.

The swim started at 1 and the organisers urged people to walk into the water as the road was slippery. I walked in and the water cold. I couldn't feel my leg because of the cold weather. I walked in and walked out. Soon, I was used to the water temperature and I went back into the water. I did that for a few times and IT was still cold. but I was able to swim a little in the water. The wet suit did its job to protect my upper body. Only my legs was feeling the cold. I had to walk a little to regain my feeling.
