Weather in Vancouver

The Weather in Vancouver has been sucking for the last 2 weeks. I know that we live in a rain forest, but it had been too much for most people to handle. The weather had been so bad that I consider putting on my wool coat in some evenings. I have been looking forward to some warm and decent weather to take my bike out. I need some serious exercise and the weather has been great.

I am longing for a day that I can ride 50km and more. I want to spend the day on the bike and wearing shorts. I want to have great weather for me to drink a cold beer and have a nice summer salad. The weather is s bad that we may delay the camping trip that we have planned for this weekend. I have been looking forward to it and it may get rained out!! I hope that the weather will have complete turn around in the next 2 days. Other wise, the trip is canceled.

Twilight convention

I love Vampires. I have been a fan of this genre for many years. I love the mysterious nature of them and immortality is both a blessing and a curse for them.

However, I have never understood Twilight. I have made fun of the film and the fans. It is because I won't call that creature a Vampire. They are just a bunch of blood sucking monsters. They don't anything remotely interesting except going to high school in their fancy cars.

This weekend, I had real encounter with the Twilight fans. It wasn't a very good one. I soon realised that these people are not fans of Vampire and Werewolves. They are just obsess fans with crushes on the images of the actors protrayed on the film. These tarts don't love Vampires even they wore shirts that claim they did.

TNT Supermarket

TNT Super Market is a Chinese Grocery Chain in Western Canada. It is one of the largest Chinese food suppliers. The prices are not overly expensive, but the management will try to take advantage of the customers.

A few months ago, the chain started to have a 2 cent surcharge for each grocery bag. It is because they want the customers to be green. They claim that they are doing it for the environment and all that jazz. I didn't buy that for a moment. I feel like that was an accounting decision and spinned by the marketing department. Of course, they introduced a line of reuseable bags for 99 cents each with their logo on it.

On to shopping with green.

I was there a few days ago and I had to buy a bottle of soy sauce. They normally wrapped the bottle with a piece of newspaper. I am always fine with that because I can reuse that piece of paper for clean window or simple recycle it.

Instead of a piece of newspaper, they use a foam barrier. How fucking green is that? I am not a green guru, but it is BS that they played the green card for the grocery bags, but they gave me a foam barrier???

That grocery store is so cheap and doesn't really practice what they preach.

TNT is only a handful of the business that does that kind of shit.

Support 2 - life in Downtown Vancouver

That's why i don't get people in Vancouver. The Vancouver Sun Run was yesterday and it is one of the largest 10k run in the City. It happens every year and It often attracts a crowd of 50,000 runners to the city. Needless to say, I hear some of my facebook friends whine about the noise and every thing else every year.

The same people would whine about how loud people get when the Vancouver Canucks win a game. The Downtown Vancouver is branded as the entertainment district by the city because of the poor execution of the transit. The hub of the transit system is down town Vancouver and people can get there easily. That's why people often use Downtown as a place to meet for fun and drinks.

It is also funny that the Whiners will defend their position on the blog. It is true that they are the resident, but they also live in the middle of a play ground. I am all for respecting the resident of the city, but some of them want the same quiet life that the suburbs offer.

The also defend the life in down town is easier because they can walk to see their friends and enjoy a drink or two in the local bars. I don't care about that because they claim that they are living a green life as they don't pollute the air. These people need to get a clue how other people live and stop telling me that they are superior human being.

The city is doing a lousy job in planning the city because they just want people to move into a shoe box of a place. The life of living in a 2 bedroom house with a yard is gone with these city folks. Although I am no fan of living in a house that requires constant upkeep, but living in a 600 sq ft condo is no way to live.

It is because there are plenty of land in the Vancouver's suburb, but people are not wanting to live outside of the city limit because the communication among the municipalities are poor. They often just like to grow their little piece of land and don't want to work together to solve a bigger problem. There is a population of 2 million people in the General Vancouver area, and we have about 15 city governments to run the place. I live in Port Moody and we have 30,000 resident.

I don't pity the people in Vancouver.

Support

I am a passionate Sports Fan. My favourite teams are the Vancouver Canucks, Manchester United. Vancouver White Caps and McLaren Formula 1 team. I enjoy watching them year after year. They are part of my life and these teams have bee entertaining me and million others like me. However, not every one share my passion in sports. Some people don't enjoy it. That's fine with me because I don't care what you like.

However, it bothers me when these people started to talk down about the sports that I like. They act like that they are holier than thou because they are into arts and other cultural stuff. They don't want to understand my I like them and they just think I am just like every other person in the city. They think I am dumb and don't think for myself.

Seriously, I am okay that you don't support my sport. If you are vocal about how dumb my sporting life is, don't expect me to support your artsy fartsy life either. It is a way street. Respect is everything.
