Good Bye, Garmin. You were a partner, but not a friend.

I am done with buying Garmin products or any electronic products that cannot be serviced. I think we all need to put pressure on companies that don't their product life extended by servicing or replacing damaged/worn out products.
The battery of this Vivoactive HR went from lasting 7 days in one charge to 12 hours over night. When inquiring the cost of the battery change, I was told that Gamin wants 120 USD for the battery change. That is 160 Canadian dollar. I also have the pay the postage. That is a lot of money.for a watch that 200 MSRP. Also some shops are blowing out this watch for 159 because this is an outdated model.
I thought about buying a new one instead of getting it repaired. But I just can't do it. I can't support a company that doesn't care having their products serviced. This is consumerism at the worst. Not everyone needs a shiny new watch all the time. It's too bad that they don't want to see their products being used for many years.
I am just disappointed that companies are still just about selling products and have their engineers to engineer products that can be produced the lowest possible cost to maximize their return. I guess that I am waking up from using all these products that cannot be serviced easily.
Garmin is just another company that just want to sell new products and don't care about building products that will last. The end of life way of pushing new products is just wrong. It feels like I am forced to update because companies no longer want to support older product lines. I have no problems with companies wanting to sell more products to make money, but I have problems with companies that are not interested in helping their costumers to prolong the life of their products. People are just going to end up with a drawer full of useless junks. There may be a need to hire a lawyer to file a class action suit against Garmin.
Gone are the days that I can simply replace a battery after it dies. If companies keep producing products like these, I will simply go back using a basic computer that will on track speed, distance and time.
