Up coming Bike Races

My season of Cyclocross racing is about to start and my first first race will be this week at New Brighton Park in Vancouver. I am really looking for it. I am not sure how well my training will pay off this year. I havent really trained hard in the last month or so. I hope that I will do okay.

My fiancee is just as excited as I am. She is not racing, but she will be taking pictures of me. She enjoys watching me race and I am glad that she does. I can't promise her a win, but I will have fun dong it.

Taxes and fees

We are paying too much money to the government in BC, Canada.

I just bought a bottle of Coke and I had to pay 32 cents on top the $1.89 purchase price. The fee is 16.9% of the purchase price. 23 cents are the actual tax, 4 cents are for recycling fee and another 5 cents are for the bottle deposit. Am I the only the person that think it is wrong to charge for recycling twice???

Bike Lanes in Vancouver

City of Vancouver is going crazy about bike lanes in the city. People don't think it is enough to assign a lane on the road, they want concrete barriers between them and the cars. The City didn't stop there because plants are on top of the barriers.

Many Shop keepers are concern about how the bike lanes will affect their business because of the lack of parking along side their businesses. The barriers are also not so good for advertisment and deter people from walking there. The cycling advocate simply don't care that the proposal will affect the businesses in the downtown core and they just want to have what they want.

when I was walking down the road today, a cyclist was riding on the side walk. I told her that cycling lane was available for her to use across the street. She didn't say anything, but kept riding away. If cyclist can ignore the use of the cycling lanes, may be drivers should start driving on the cycling lanes.

Simple life

I woke up this morning at 6 but I felt like crap. I didn't go to bed until 1 last night because I was playing video game. I didn't think I will be up until 1 because I wanted to turn it off at 10. However, I didn't pay much attention to the clock and time flew.

I finally left the bed at 7. I made a cup of coffee and was trying to decide whether to travel to my office or not. I finished my coffee and I finally decided to stay home. I have no problem in working from home. There are times that I am more productive because I can do more than work. Getting coffee is easy and coffee at home is better than work coffee.

I worked until 3:30 and I decided it was time to get out of the house. I geared up and took my mountain bike out for a ride. The weather was warmer than I thought. I didn't have enough water for the whole ride. I needed to conserve water toward the end.

I got home about an hour ago and my fiancee was preparing dinner. Life is good.

Fall 2010

It is cold. The temperature took a dive over night. The short summer is gone and I haven't really done much. I miss the days that I sweat from walking a block. At least I have a tan from riding in the summer.

I lost weight from training and it was fun. I was a little lighter than last fall because of the weekly Grouse Mountain Hike and many miles on my bike.
