Death of Blackberry

My first smart phone was a Blackberry and I have been a fan since.  I owned my share of Blackberry before switching to an iPhone in 2005.  I never loved my iPhone even it can do more than a Blackberry.  It is because I used to phone to communicate.  I used it for emails, text and (yes) phone calls.

I eventually went the Android route with a Nexus.  But when Blackberry released Q10, I went back.  The phone worked for a 2 years, and then the speaker died.  Unfortunately, the shop couldn't fix it.  I switched back to Android.

A few weeks ago, I got a older Blackberry Bold for the business that I am about to start.  I needed a phone to dial out and perhaps to get email as well. I also wanted to use the Bold as a travel phone.  Unfortunately the time for Blackberry is over.  The OS7 was so outdated and I can't get any app to work on it.  It is not possible for me to check email without using the browser.

I also learnt that Whatsapp is discontinuing their support for all Blackberry devices.  That was the last draw.  As much as I love the Blackberry Bold for it's size, I realised that I need to move on.

For the next little while, I will only use the Bold for Phone calls and as a music player.
