Another atheletic weekend

Woke up yesterday morning and left for a cyclocross race at about 845. It was mt forth race since the season started.  I had to miss 3 races because of schedule conflict.

The weather was just cold.  It was not near freezing temperature but near it.  It was not easy for me to warm up.  I rode for 20 minutes before the race, but I was quickly cooled down when we were lining up for the race.

It wasn't a  particular good race for me.  After the whistle was blown, the rate wasn't terribly fast.  it was kind of slow and there was this newbie racer kept running into me.  racing is not about cutting me people off.  Still, it was a fun race and I managed a crash because my right foot clipped a post.  Once that happened, I had to make sure the bike was fine.  The rear tube developed a slow leak and the air pressure is getting lower every lap.

I also thin that I was trying hard enough because I am running a higher gear.  I wanted to see whether my legs can turn a 34x15.  I was turning the gear, but I just couldn't put out enough wattage to fully take advantage of the gearing.

This is my first season with the single speed bike and It will only get better as more training with it.

then I woke up today and headed out for a dragon boat practice with a highly competitive club.  It was very focus and structured.  I loved it.  I will be attending more of their practices in the up coming months.

What it means to be a racer

I am a racer.  I have raced mountain bike, cyclocross, road bike, running, triathlon, and dragon boat.  I am in it because I like the feeling of being on the race course and racing against myself and others.

I am racing again this weekend and I am playing the part of a cyclocross racer.  It's going to  be cold and sunny, but I have my race clothes ready.  But this is what cyclocross is all about.  foul weather.
