career transition

It is time for me to sit down and to assess my future.  I am in my early 40's and have been doing the same job for a few years and I am not exactly happy at where my career is going at this moment.  I have a good education and good experience, but I may have been type casted in the employment world.

I know that I have lots of transferable skills and I just need to find a position where I can apply my experience and help out a company and to be compensated.

training

The problem with my cycling programme is that I don't know how to just ride.  Most of my rides are done with a purpose to keep myself in shape and for competing in numerous sporting events.  I focus on training and most rides are done with a computer/GPS/HRM because I wanted to keep track on my training progress.  I use my gps to record my races and compare the data with the previous years.

After many years of training and riding for competition, I decided that I need to just ride.  I shouldn't just prepare my bikes for training and racing,  The problem is that I just don't know how. I went through a phase of free riding with a 5 inch full suspension bike.  I shuttled and I rode mountain bike park in the summer.  After 2 seasons of riding those heavy weight machine, I went back to the basic.  I rode hard tail again and I also picked up cyclocross racing.

2013 is a much different year as I am burning out from training on the water for Dragon Boat Racing, but I still want to retain certain level of fitness because I want to compete in some triathlons for fun.

settling down at work

Monday.  April 8th.

I arrived at work at 830am and  I had no desire to be here today.  As I was leaving my office last FRiday at 430pm, my coworker was making fun of me because I made a spelling error in one of my job advertisements.  She didn't want to tell me about initially, and she just kept giggling.   I finally made her to share it with me, and she kept laughing.  Trust me, it wasn't a good feeling.  I was leaving to the land of relaxation and I had to leave my office in a sour note.

I have been in my office for over 45 minutes and I still haven't done any real work yet as I am still trying to settle myself down.

How to relax

My wife asked me about relaxation a few days ago.  She wanted know how I used to relax.    I don't even know what relaxation is, as I just do.  I live and try to have fun.  However, the older I am, the more stress I am getting.  I spend 5 days at work and I may have 2 days to relax.  Weekends don't mean jack to me as I still have plenty to do.  I need to run errands and it is very unusual if I can just sit and not to have a thing to do.

If I can find time to smoke, that means I have free time and that I don't have to worry about anything.    Having a Cigar is ultimate relaxation for me.  I can escape the world and not worry about anything.  I can just be.
