Banff, Alberta

At the end of of the Dragon Boat Season last year, I told a few people that will retire from racing because of the stupid politics on the team. I needed a break from all of it. Dragon boating is also taking a lot of my time during the weekends. I paddled the cranberry festival canoe race in october and I hung up my PFD.

It was until a few months ago, a team asked me to join them for a race in Banff Alberta. I didn't think twice and accepted the invitation. They told me that the team will be without the persons that I couldn't stand. Of course, the person that I couldn't stand joined the team eventually. He just couldn't stay home and let the team win without him.

He is the reason why I stopped. I could easily looked for a different team, but he turned me off. It was because he uses the team to get himself more press in the media. The people is his team are used by him to get more media attention. He doesn't care much about the people in the team.

Fortunately, this particular team is about winning races and not about his agendas. We were focused as a team. We did team things together and the result came. We won Silver and we had a very respectable time as well. Out of the 30 teams entered, we were the 6th fastest team that weekend. It wasn't bad for a team that was put together and no spare paddler.

We also got to experience Banff. The town was expensive because it is a tourist town. We still had a great time doing some sight seeing. I also brought my bike with me and I did a ride with a buddy of mine. It was fun and the scenery was incredible. I will be back in the future and experience the Canadian Rockies again.
